History

The home learning programme will focus on key historical terms, second-order concepts and Tier Two vocabulary, ensuring that students develop both subject specific understanding and the broader literacy skills needed for success in history and across the curriculum.

Students will be given a small, manageable set of key terms and Tier Two vocabulary each half term. They will use techniques such as Look–Cover–Write–Check, flashcards and oral rehearsal to learn both spellings and definitions. Teachers will check understanding through short key- term quizzes in lessons, assessing both spelling and definition recall.
